Breast implants are used for various purposes, including increasing the size of the breasts, changing their shape, and making them appear more even. A surgeon will cut the skin at the bottom of the areola or below the breast, dissect a pocket beneath the breast and perhaps the pectoralis (push-up) muscle, and place the implant.
